With summer in full swing, my house has become a revolving door of neighbor kids and friends coming and going, continual trips to the grocery store, campouts in the backyard (by the way, birds start chirping at 4:00 a.m.) and baseball, baseball and more baseball. It seems like no matter how hard I try to keep our summers from filling up with too much busyness so that we can enjoy the relaxed schedule, it always has a way of flying by. It feels like summer just started, and here we are at July already. How can it be?!

We wanted to share a few favorite summer recipes with you in this issue, as well as a couple of easy homemade ice cream recipes for a treat on a hot summer night. We may have polished off the ice cream after shooting the food spread, so speaking from experience, that strawberry ice cream is amazing. Plus, it is easy to adapt the recipe to be dairy-free if needed.

I hope you are able to enjoy some of the many great things our city has to offer in the summer months and that you make memories with those around you that you love.
