Enjoy Pure Food + Drink believes healthy living starts at the end of your fork.  Fresh from the soil and prepared for the soul to nourish the mind, body, and spirit with each bite, Enjoy believes food is more than fuel and is the best preventative healthcare.  Organic bowls, soups, sandwiches, salads, cold-pressed juices, and smoothies are all on the menu at this unique health cafe located in Mission Farms.

Owner Staci Cross wanted to provide guests with fast and healthy meal options.  Cross comes from a corporate background with many years in television and advertising, which required her to travel extensively throughout the country year after year.  “I was either a vegetarian or vegan and found it very frustrating to find clean, healthy food that was easy to eat while on the go,” said Cross.  “Of course, with such a demanding schedule, keeping my energy up and my health strong was vital to success and sustainability.  I plainly saw a real need and a void for a nationally recognized fast-casual restaurant that offered organic, clean cuisine.”  She put together a business plan and opened the first Enjoy Pure Food + Drink with the intention of developing it into a franchise operation.

Cross worked with Chef Michael Smith, the executive culinary director and acclaimed James Beard award-winner, to create all the recipes for each dish.  The cold-pressed juices and smoothies were created by internationally-known Tess Masters of Blender Girl and holistic juice goddess Karen Kipp.  All menu items are made in-house, non-processed, organic, and plant-based with paleo, vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and soy-free options to choose from.

Enjoy is more than just a juice and smoothie shop–they offer just about everything in one place, from breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner options, so that you can eat right with your busy schedule.  Cross said, “We are extremely intentional about the ingredients we use.  About 75% of our food is organic.  We even use wild-caught salmon, organic chicken, and sustainably-caught tuna.  The food is so delicious it makes it easy to eat healthy.”

If it’s your first time in, start by trying their most popular menu items.  The Farmers Market salad is a great start and made with a blend of romaine and spinach, tomato, avocado, shredded carrots, broccoli, shredded beets, cucumbers, peas, toasted almonds, Manchego cheese, and classic balsamic vinaigrette.  Another favorite is the Mexicali Cool, a wrap made with chicken, avocado, cheddar, pesto, and Mexican coleslaw.  Their smoothies are a complete meal in itself and are made fresh to order.  Banana, kale, cashews, dates, vanilla, and ginger are blended to create the most popular smoothie on the menu, the Tastes-Like-Ice-Cream Kale smoothie.  If you’re looking for a hearty meal, try their superfood Take on the World bowl made with quinoa, avocado, kale, steamed broccoli, shredded beets, almonds, hemp seeds, and ginger-miso dressing.  To drink, you can’t go wrong with a glass of organic wine, local craft beer, coffee, or kombucha.  Finish with a luscious lime tart or chocolate brownie bliss.

If your New Year’s resolution is to change your eating habits, Cross says eating plant-based, organic food is the best way of giving your body the nutrients it needs.
”I understand that every person and body has unique nutritional requirements, so there isn’t one way of eating that applies to everyone.  However, I do believe that we should try to eliminate as many chemicals and processed food as possible,” says Cross.  Start the year off right with a one-day cleanse package, which includes three raw, cold-pressed organic juices, two health tonics, and two organic herbal teas to keep you motivated after all of that holiday eating.  A cleanse is a great way to repair and detox.  Repeat this cleanse for more days if desired.
