Now that the holidays are over and Jack Frost has blown into town, it’s time to get the kids’ wiggles out with some indoor fun. We’ve compiled a list of eight entertaining indoor activities for kids, both young and old. So, whether your kids are big or small, you’ll always find something fun to do in or near Johnson County to cure cabin fever.
Indoor Play Spaces
There are several inflatable play spaces in Johnson County, but Leaping Lizards is unique. It’s filled with nine inflatables that will expend your kids’ energy no matter the weather outside. Kids can pretend to be a princess, pirate or superhero on some of the unique inflatables during open play time. Children, ages 2-12, can play every month during walk- in play times, and there’s even a toddler play area for children under two. Emerald City Gym alleviates kids’ cabin fever with climbing, jumping and swinging in their huge gymnastics center. Kids ages 4-12 can climb the 12-foot rock wall, jump on in-ground trampolines, swing into the foam pit, zip line and play on the additional equipment in the enormous play space. Play and Swim
Entire families can cure their cabin fever at the Johnson County Community Centers. Residents can enjoy toddler play times, swimming, basketball, exercising, game playing and much more at the 12 community centers located around the county. Spend some time with your family enjoying summertime activities in the cold of winter.
Museum enthusiasts
A Johnson County staple, Wonderscope provides hours of playful learning for young children and their parents. Kids can enjoy playing with the new veterinary, sound and water exhibits in addition the traditional favorite exhibits like the ever-popular Raceways and Farm-to-Market exhibits. Although not in Johnson County, The College Basketball Experience is a perfect cabin fever cure for your teenagers. They’ll love the interactive exhibits that allow them to shoot baskets, compare their shoe size and arm span to college basketball stars and even make a video calling the play-by-play of a basketball game. Don’t be surprised if your kids will want to challenge you to a game of Pop-a-Shot during your visit. Something unusual
How long has it been since you tied on a pair of roller skates? If it’s been too long, then it’s time to head to
Skate City with your kids. The music and skates will take you back to your younger years while you teach your kids

Kids a least 54 inches tall, and adults, can test their go-kart driving skills on one of the three race-tracks. Book Lovers
Johnson County Libraries aren’t just for checking out books. There are thirteen libraries in Johnson County and they all have extensive activities for toddlers through teens. Play and learn at the 6-by-6 foot Early Literacy Spaces with your infant and toddler. Preschoolers will enjoy participating in fingerplays, songs and stories during the library’s popular storytimes. Visit a library outside your neighborhood for a new experience.
The library also has great activities for teens. If you have an Anime fan, creative writer, artist, book lover, or kids who are interested in learning something new, the library has events to match their interests. There’s never a dull moment at the Johnson County libraries. (JoCoLibrary.org)
